Europos Komisijos vadovas: „ES susiduria su didžiausiu iššūkiu savo istorijoje“
Europos Komisijos vadovas Jose Manuelis Barroso savo metinėje kalboje Europos Parlamente Strasbūre sakė, kad dabar ES susiduria su pačiu didžiausiu iššūkiu savo istorijoje.
Ragindamas išlikti kantriems ir susitelkusiems sprendžiant iškilusias problemas, jis pabrėžė, kad tai „ne sprintas, bet mataronas“, kuriam įveikti reikia didelio pasiryžimo. Apžvalgininkų teigimu, itin emocionalioje kalboje buvo cituojamas Nelsono Mandelos posakis, kad „kol nepadaryta, tai visada atrodo neįmanoma“. Taip Europos Komisijos vadovas ragino ieškoti išeičių iš krizės.
Jis taip pat įspėjo, kad jei ES nepavyks pasiekti didesnės ekonominės integracijos, 27 šalis vienijančiai Sąjungai gresia skilimas. O glaudesnė integracija ir geresnis veiksmų koordinavimas tai, pasak jo, visų pirma ne atsikrų šalių vyriausybių darbas ir planai, bet labiau centralizuotas ES institucijų, vadovaujamų Europos Komisijos, glaudesnis ir veiksmingesnis bendradarbiavimas siekiant bendrų tikslų.
Europos Komisijos vadovas patikino, kad Graikija išliks euro zonos valstybe, bet taip pat ragino šalį vykdyti prisiimtus įsipareigojimus ir suvokti, kad dera atsakyti į kitų ES šalių parodytą solidarumą ir suteiktą finansinę pagalbą.
